Another year bites the dust. I can't believe that we're at the end of the year already. It seems that last New years was just a few weeks ago. Time flies when you're having fun, I guess.
December was a great month for me. I had a lot of great shows with the band and comedy, and had a great Christmas. I am happy it is over, though. I can't even remember all of the shows, it all blurs together. I'd say the best part was having Steven Wright pop in to Jester's Comedy in Kittery to do a guest spot. That was cool. He did all new stuff, and was great.
As for 2001, I'd have to say that is was a year of growth for me. I experienced much growth in my stand up act, growth in my drumming, growth in my writing, and growth in myself. I worked very hard on the above four topics this year, and I have to say I'm proud. Proud of the decisions I've made in my life, proud of forming some fantastic friendships, and proud of my career choices. I just love to make people laugh. It is why I was put on this planet. I love to make people move when I play drums. That too, is why I was put on this planet. I love to make people laugh as they read, and think at the same time. I was put on this planet to entertain. And I couldn't be happier about that.
Looking back, there were so many moments that I laugh at about this past year, and so many great memories, people and experiences. Per usual, I have no regrets or resentments about 2001. It was a banner year, and I can only imagine what I'll be writing about at this time next year. Thanks to everybody who was part of that year, in whatever way it was, and I look forward to running into everyone again, to create more memories and milestones.
January 2002 is real busy for this guy; I'll be doing the coveted and often feared northern Maine tour, not once, but TWICE! And to make matters more dangerous, both tours are with the one and only George Hamm! Let the debauchery begin! The best part is, we're taking a super nice guy and relatively new comic Ryan Gartley along for the ride. He may see a side of comedy that will absolutely frighten him! Oh boy, I can't wait. By the end of the trip, our self-esteem will be in the gutter, but worthwhile. It all makes for the best material!
See you all in 2002. -Shane
