Winter 2003

Good god I've been slacking. I'm sorry to all the loyal readers of the site, I'm making my best efforts to keep up, and I promise to try harder. It's been nuts.

Things are full steam ahead. I will update the calendar as soon as I'm done typing this, even though it doesn't look like I've been active, I have, it's just that I haven't had the time to update it. Thanks for all the emails regarding where you can see me. The support is great!

The Sunday shows at the Comedy Connection are going EXCELLENT! The crowds have been strong, with a TON of repeat customers. That's a good sign that things are good. So PLEASE….if you haven't been, COME TO THE SHOW!!! It's a blast. Thanks to the comics and customers who make it so fun.

I've been doing a few shows with Bob Marley, some benefits and such, and I have to take my hat off to him. Bob is the hardest working comic I've met, and he deserves everything he has. I've never seen someone more cut out for stand up than this guy. And working with him is always so inspiring…his shows are unbelievable, and motivating. Doing shows at clubs are one thing, but when you walk into a sold out auditorium and light the joint, you can't help but feel juiced. And that is because all the work Bob has done. He set the plate, and I'm merely the appetizer. I'm happily humbled. It's been great.

The winter has brought on some good gigs, and some bad ones. I did Lewiston the other night, and felt like walking off the stage as soon as I got on. That gig blows.

I recently played drums on a recording session for a singer/songwriter who approached master producer Jonathan Wyman to assemble a band for this date. And boy did he. The players were Tim from The McArthy's, Spencer and Pat from Rocktopus, and my good self. The results are outstanding, and from what I hear, it's getting a lot of airplay. The artists name is Bill Cushing. If you hear the name, that's me on drums!

I'm now nestled in to my new digs with my girlfriend, what an experience that has been. That should be a reality show. Take a guy who's been single for five years and move him in with a girlfriend. I have this to report though: it's positive. I've learned a lot about relationships, and I love it. I'm happy as a little clam.

In other news: FACE magazine is merging with Casco Bay weekly once a month, so you'll see my columns there too. CBW insisted on me changing the name from the “Spank my ass…” title, which mildly infuriated me, so I changed it, it will now be called “Sell me out and call me Shane Kinney.” Whaddya think? I'm still planning on compiling a book out the columns to be called “Spanks for the memories” to be released some time in the near future, I'll be sure to keep you posted on that. The name will live on.

Oooh…I almost forgot. No show on Easter Sunday, but on Monday, April 21st, I'll be hosting a show called Stand up for the troops. It's a show that isn't pro or anti war, it's about supporting our men and women defending our country. The show will be free, and all donations will go to benefit the USO and the VFW's operation uplink. Comedy clubs all across the country will be doing this, and I'm honored to take part in this cause. The show will, of course be at the Comedy Connection, and your support is appreciated. It will be an All-star lineup guaranteed to impress! Hope to see you there!

A thanks again for the support, without an audience there is no performer! Cheers!

-Shane
